I tried to develop simple currency program but i have problem. But i cant do it. The effect of each of these codes can vary between operating systems, but with Python should be fairly consistent. For example if your program is running on port and that port is currently in used or not closed, then you code ends up with exit code 1.

Why doesn't pycharm just show the traceback? The exit code is almost completely useless as a debugging aid. The example code will never return from app. The AttributeError will immediately terminate execution of the script.

Recent versions of pyqt5 will also call qFatal whenever an unhandled exception is encountered, unless an excepthook has been installed see here. In these cases, the process exit code will be platform-specific.

I found this pycharm support threadwhich suggests setting the "Emulate terminal in output console" option might show a proper python traceback instead of the useless exit code message. The scheduled job runs this batch file. A typical script file might look like this. If it's 0 then we mark the file as sent, otherwise we try sending the file again later. This has been working fine for months, until last Friday.

Then we suddenly started receiving exit codes of 1. Upon further investigation we found that the files were in fact making it to the remote server correctly, even though we were getting a non-zero exit code.

Any idea why the sudden change from 0 to 1 in the exit code? Could it be due to a change on the receiving system? Does the 1 mean anything specific? How can I reliably tell if the transfer was successful or not? I think I've discovered the problem. The file server has a lock on WinSCP.

The close statement causes WinSCP to write to the ini file. When this fails, it throws an error and return "1". Since the close happens after the put, the file is actually on the remote server. I can get the current ini file unlocked, but I'd like to protect against this happening again. Here are two ideas I have. Please feel free to comment if you think one is better than the other or have any suggestions. Put "option batch abort" right before the "put" command and "option batch continue" right before the "close" command.

That way it will only abort and exit with a "1" if there is an error during transmission. After the batch file runs WinSCP. Command close should write to the INI file only if you have enabled session option Remember last used directory. Plus with these kind of implicit writes, WinSCP ignores access denied errors.

So it should be enough if you set the INI file readonly.Keep in touch and stay productive with Teams and Officeeven when you're working remotely. Learn More. Anyhow, regarding your question as to whether the remove method would immediately dispose the background worker, the answer is no. True, you should remove it from the container, as leaving a reference would cause garbage disposal to not remove it. However, even when an item is disposed, it may still remain in memory until garbage disposal.

Stack Overflow for Teams is a private, secure spot for you and your coworkers to find and share information. It works fine every time on my machine. I have a new developer who always gets the "exited with code 1" error.

I had her run the same command in a DOS prompt, and it worked fine. What could be causing this? Is there any way to get to the real error? My reason for the Code 1 was that the target folder was read only. Hope this helps someone! I had a post build event to do a copy from one directory to another and the destination was read only. So I just went and unchecked the read-only attribute on the directory and all its subdirectories! Just make sure that its a directory that's safe to do so!

Then when there are changes, files do get copied, VS errors but everything the developer wanted was done. Additional Tip: Do not use a pause in the script as this would become an indefinite pause in the VS build. You will notice this and comment it out rather than have a hanging build. In DOSthis may be referred to as an errorlevel. When computer programs are executed, the operating system creates an abstract entity called a process in which the book-keeping for that program is maintained. In multitasking operating systems such as Unix or Linuxnew processes can be created by active processes. The process that spawns another is called a parent processwhile those created are child processes. Child processes run concurrently with the parent process. The technique of spawning child processes is used to delegate some work to a child process when there is no reason to stop the execution of the parent.

Monotype app

When the child finishes executing, it exits by calling the exit system call. This system call facilitates passing the exit status code back to the parent, which can retrieve this value using the wait system call. The parent and the child can have an understanding about the meaning of the exit statuses. For example, it is common programming practice for a child process to return exit with zero to the parent signifying success.

Apart from this return value from the child, other information like how the process exited, either normally or by a signal may also be available to the parent process. The specific set of codes returned is unique to the program that sets it. Typically it indicates success or failure.

The value of the code returned by the function or program may indicate a specific cause of failure. On many systems, the higher the value, the more severe the cause of the error.

Sometimes, if the codes are designed with this purpose in mind, they can be used directly as a branch index upon return to the initiating program to avoid additional tests. Shell scripts typically execute commands and capture their exit statuses. A nonzero exit status indicates failure. This seemingly counter-intuitive scheme is used so there is one well-defined way to indicate success and a variety of ways to indicate various failure modes.

If a command is not found, the shell should return a status of If a command is found but is not executable, the return status should be
